Thousands of Organizations Find Common Ground in Voter Participation Ahead of 2026 Midterms
Growing coalition surges past 2,000 Community Partners to power voter participation as the nation marks 250 years
Boston, MA – With a month still to go, National Voter Registration Day has surged past 2,000 Community Partners, with partners in every state preparing to reach hundreds of thousands of Americans where they live, work, learn, and gather on September 15, 2026. Together, they’ll help people register, check and update their voter registration, and get ready to participate in midterm elections that will shape communities across the country.
The campaign has also surpassed its Premier Partner goal, with over 130 national organizations lending their reach to the effort. As the nation marks 250 years, nonprofits, libraries, campuses, businesses, election officials, and community groups are coming together around a shared, nonpartisan commitment to participation under the banner: Built by Us. Powered by Us.
“As our country marks 250 years, we have an opportunity not only to reflect on our democracy’s history, but to think about the role each of us plays in its future,” said Chyann Sapp, Campaign Director for National Voter Registration Day. “Democracy isn’t something that simply happens around us. It is built by people and powered by participation. More than 2,000 organizations have already stepped forward this year to bring voter registration into their communities. That kind of collective action is what National Voter Registration Day is all about—people and organizations coming together to make sure everyone has the opportunity to make their voice heard.”
This year’s midterms will shape decisions at every level of government, from Congress and governors’ offices to statehouses and local communities. For voters, being ready starts with making sure their registration is current and accurate.
National Voter Registration Day brings that opportunity into the places people already know and trust. Partners use their relationships and local knowledge to make voter registration accessible, familiar, and part of everyday community life.
On September 15, that coalition will come to life through thousands of events nationwide, with major activations planned everywhere from college campuses to city blocks and collaborations with libraries, artists, businesses, schools, and community organizations. New national partnerships, brand collaborations, and special activations will be announced in the weeks ahead.
This year’s Premier Partners include the All In Campus Democracy Challenge, American Library Association, League of Women Voters, VoteRiders, National Alliance on Mental Illness, National Urban League, Headcount, Black Voters Matter, Rock the Vote, American Alliance of Museums, National Council of Nonprofits, When We All Vote, and many more, bringing voter registration to audiences across nearly every part of American life.
National Voter Registration Day also thanks its 2026 sponsors including Google, Andrew Carnegie Foundation, Civic Responsibility Project, Microsoft, Paramount, Creative Arts Agency, Levi Strauss & Co., PayPal, and National Basketball Association, whose support makes free resources, training, and materials available to partners nationwide.
And the coalition is still growing. Organizations can still sign up as 2026 Community Partners and receive free tools and resources to help their communities get registered and #VoteReady on September 15. Sign up at nationalvoterregistrationday.org/become-a-partner/
