Thousands of Organizations Mobilize Nationwide for National Voter Registration Day 2026
More Than 140 Premier Partners and 3,500 Community Partners Help Americans Get Registered and Ready for the Midterms
Boston, MA—Today, September 15, thousands of organizations across the country are celebrating National Voter Registration Day, the nation’s largest nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to helping every eligible American register to vote.
More than 140 national organizations and companies have signed on as Premier Partners, while 3,500 Community Partners are holding voter registration drives and events from coast to coast. Together, they represent one of the broadest civic coalitions in the country, bringing voter registration into libraries, colleges, nonprofits, election offices, businesses, cultural organizations and community gathering places nationwide.
“This is the day when thousands of people take voter registration into their own hands and make it useful in their communities,” said Chyann Sapp, Campaign Director for National Voter Registration Day. “Our partners know where people gather, what questions they have and what information they need. Today, they are using that knowledge to help more Americans get registered and ready to vote.”
Premier Partners include organizations and companies spanning from the American Library Association, APIAVote, Ben & Jerry’s, Campus Vote Project, Democracy Works, HeadCount, Independent Sector, League of Women Voters, Mi Familia Vota, NAACP, National Disability Rights Network, National Urban League, Rock the Vote, Students Learn Students Vote Coalition, VoteRiders, Voters of Tomorrow, YMCA of the USA and many more.
Election officials remain central to the holiday. National Voter Registration Day is endorsed by the National Association of Secretaries of State, the National Association of State Election Directors, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and the National Association of Election Officials.
“Every eligible voter should have the information and opportunity they need to participate,” said Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon, Democratic co-chair of National Voter Registration Day. “National Voter Registration Day brings election officials and community organizations together to reach people where they are, answer their questions and help them take that important first step.”
“Registering to vote is the first step toward making your voice heard,” said Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams, Republican co-chair of National Voter Registration Day. “Whether you recently became eligible, moved, changed your name or simply want to make sure your information is current, today is a good day to check your registration and get ready for the election ahead.”
Events are taking place in communities across the country, from registration tables at local libraries and food pantries to campus celebrations, neighborhood events and online campaigns.
At 15 community colleges, students are also marking the day through Project HOPE, a nationwide public art initiative created by National Voter Registration Day and artist Corie Mattie, known as the LA Hope Dealer. Students and community members are transforming campus spaces with temporary art built around the words “HOPE,” “LOVE,” “JOY,” “CARE IS A VERB” and “VOTE IS A VERB.” Participants will complete each installation by adding a flock of doves and will be able to register to vote on site.
Project HOPE is supported by the Levi Strauss Foundation, with campus microgrants provided separately by Levi Strauss & Co. In the 2020 presidential election, the national voting rate among community college students was nearly 10 percentage points lower than the rate among students at four-year universities. Closing that gap is a key pillar of Levi Strauss & Co.’s Community College Commitment, which works to increase nonpartisan voter participation among community college students.
“Project HOPE is exciting because it will utilize shared creative experiences to create meaningful entry points into civic life and strengthen connection across communities,” said Fatima Angeles, Executive Director, Levi Strauss Foundation. “Through our support and the support of LS&Co., we’re helping community college campuses create National Voter Registration Day experiences that reflect the interests, energy and creativity of students, and making civic participation more accessible and engaging.”
Online, National Voter Registration Day and its partners are filling social media feeds with voter registration information, event coverage and reminders to check registration status. Instagram Live conversations throughout the day will bring viewers inside local events and Project HOPE installations, with participating campuses and partners sharing updates from their communities.
At 2pm ET, National Voter Registration Day will also host a live Reddit Ask Me Anything, giving voters a place to ask questions about registering, updating their information and preparing for the 2026 elections.
Companies and philanthropic organizations are supporting the holiday through funding, in-kind resources, employee engagement and outreach to millions of customers and community members.
“Participation is fundamental to a strong democracy. PayPal is proud to support National Voter Registration Day and its work to ensure eligible voters have the opportunity to make their voices heard. That commitment extends to our own workforce, where we give U.S. employees time to register, vote and volunteer so they can fully participate in the communities where they live and work.” said Amy Bonitatibus, Chief Corporate Affairs & Communications Officer, PayPal.
“National Voter Registration Day is able to show up in so many places because this coalition is willing to use what it has,” added Sapp. “That might be a national platform, a library table, an art installation, a college quad or a conversation between neighbors. All of it helps someone take the next step.”
Voters heading to the polls this November will help decide all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, 33 U.S. Senate seats, 36 governorships, more than 6,100 state legislative seats and tens of thousands of local offices.
National Voter Registration Day brings added attention to registration ahead of state deadlines, which vary across the country. Eligible voters are encouraged to register early, update their information after a move or name change, or check that their existing registration is accurate.
