Public Art, Mobile Billboards, and Campus Activations Mark National Voter Registration Day’s Nationwide Election Day Campaign
The campaign brings Project HOPE activations to community colleges nationwide, including a new art installation at Elgin Community College (outside Chicago), alongside mobile billboards in Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, and Phoenix
Boston, MA—National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) is bringing public art installations, mobile billboards, and campus voter engagement activities to communities across the country today, November 3, as part of its nationwide Election Day campaign to help the more than 550,000 people who registered to vote or updated their registrations on September 15 turn out and cast their ballots.
Through partnership with Project HOPE, NVRD is bringing a new official VOTE IS A VERB art installation to Elgin Community College in Illinois, alongside mobile billboards sharing nonpartisan voting resources in Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, and Phoenix. The mobile billboards will travel through their respective metropolitan areas on Election Day, with routes and filming locations available to local media upon request.
The campaign also includes Election Day activities at participating community colleges nationwide:
- California: Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles; Berkeley City College, Berkeley
- Illinois: Elgin Community College, Elgin; South Suburban College, South Holland
- Minnesota: Dakota County Technical College, Rosemount
- Mississippi: Coahoma Community College, Clarksdale
- New York: Niagara County Community College, Sanborn; Bronx Community College, Bronx; Queens Community College, Queens
- Ohio: Owens Community College, Toledo area
- Pennsylvania: Manor College, Jenkintown
- Tennessee: Roane State Community College, Oak Ridge
- West Virginia: Mountwest Community and Technical College, Huntington
The Phoenix-area mobile billboard activation also builds on Project HOPE’s earlier work at Mesa Community College in Arizona on September 15, 2026.
“People are heading to the polls today because they have questions, concerns, and strong feelings about the issues facing their communities,” said Chyann Sapp, Campaign Director of National Voter Registration Day. “In September, we helped more than 550,000 people register or update their registrations through celebrations, community activations, and trusted voting resources. Now we’re bringing that same energy to Election Day, helping people get the information they need to cast their ballots with confidence.”
Project HOPE swept across the nation on September 15 at 15 community colleges with Los Angeles street artist Corie Mattie, known as the LA Hope Dealer. Supported by the Levi Strauss Foundation, the initiative invited students to create collaborative public art installations around messages of hope, love, joy, care, and voting as actions that strengthen communities.
The Election Day activities are supported by Levi Strauss & Co. through its Community College Commitment, which aims to increase nonpartisan voter participation among community college students. In the 2020 presidential election, the national voting rate among community college students was nearly 10 percentage points lower than the rate among students at four-year universities.
MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES: Local reporters and television crews can coordinate coverage of the new Elgin art installation, request mobile billboard routes and filming locations in the four metropolitan areas, or arrange coverage of campus Election Day activities.
