National Voter Registration Day Releases Statement Renouncing Political Violence
“We believe the health of our democracy depends on people choosing participation over division, and nonviolence over violence”
Boston, MA: Today, the team behind National Voter Registration Day released the following statement:
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events of September 10. Violence has no place in our civic life. At National Voter Registration Day, we believe the health of our democracy depends on people choosing participation over division, and nonviolence over violence.
On September 16, millions of Americans will take part in National Voter Registration Day. In this moment of loss, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every eligible voice has the opportunity to be heard—safely, peacefully, and powerfully at the ballot box.”
